As the name suggests, the Institutional Effectiveness team addresses issues related to university strategic planning and policy development, as well as academic and university assessment and accountability. Institutional Effectiveness has an essential role in supporting these efforts. In addition, Institutional Effectiveness has a strong commitment to university offices by offering faculty and staff professional development activities throughout the academic year.

We believe in the strength of collaboration, the value of teamwork, and the importance of celebration as we support the advancement of university excellence. Beth became associate vice president in 2012. She coordinates institutional planning, policies development, assessment, and reporting as well as accreditation at Texas State through the Institutional Effectiveness staff.

Her responsibilities include oversight of the University’s strategic plans, university and division policies and procedures, outcomes assessment, compliance reporting, and academic program reviews. Beth also coordinates the review of faculty nominations for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Service and University Distinguished Professor recognition. In addition, she serves as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) Liaison and is responsible for the preparation of reports and accreditation-related materials for SACSCOC.  She also oversees the external specialized/professional accreditation activities of individual academic and support programs. 

Beth, who is an associate professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences, has also been the director of Academic Development and Assessment and presidential fellow at Texas State. She is the author of textbooks, textbook chapters, and articles in her area of academic specialty and as well has presented papers on an academic assessment.

While a faculty member at the University of North Texas, she developed a bachelor’s program in home furnishing merchandising. Beth has also been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Iza coordinates the university and divisional policies and procedures, directs the review process, and maintains the policy and procedure statement website. She also guides the university strategic planning development and reporting and supports administrative outcomes assessment functions.

Iza received her Master of Arts in Literature with a minor in Women's Studies at Texas State University, and her undergraduate degrees in English and psychology at Texas A&M University -- Corpus Christi. Prior to working at Texas State, Iza was an English and math instructor at Gary Job Corps Center.

Dana joined Institutional Effectiveness in 2012. She coordinates the calendar, travel, correspondence and also maintains the department's website for the associate vice president.

Dana worked for University Planning and Assessment as well as Facilities Management before coming to Institutional Effectiveness.

Prior to working at Texas State, Dana was a deputy municipal court clerk for New Braunfels. Her background includes over 30 years of administrative and professional experience.
